Privacy policy
The short version: your CV stays on your device. We don't have accounts, and we can't see anything you type into the CV builder. We don't show adverts and we don't use tracking cookies.
Who we are
Free CV Builder ("we", "us") is run by an individual in the United Kingdom. You can contact us using the details on our contact page. For data protection law, we are the controller of the limited information described below.
Your CV information
Everything you enter into the CV builder, including your name, contact details, education, experience and photo, is saved only in your own web browser on your own device (using a browser feature called local storage). It is never sent to us or stored on our servers.
- Your PDF is created inside your browser and saved straight to your device.
- Backup files you create are saved to your device. Keep them somewhere safe.
- If you clear your browser's data or use a private window, your saved CVs may be deleted. We cannot recover them because we never had them.
- If you use a shared computer, delete your CVs from the builder when you have finished.
Other services our pages use
- Cloudflare hosts this website. Like all web hosts, it receives technical information such as your IP address and browser type when you visit, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
- Google Fonts provides the fonts on our pages. Your browser downloads them from Google, which receives your IP address.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) provides a tool the builder uses to create your PDF. Your browser downloads it, but no CV information is sent.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run adverts. The services listed above may set strictly necessary technical cookies to deliver their content securely.
Other storage on your device
When you visit, your browser may store copies of our pages so the site loads faster and works offline if you install it as an app. This contains no personal information.
Children
Free CV Builder is designed to be safe for young people. We do not ask for your age, we have no accounts or messaging, we do not collect your CV information, and we do not show adverts.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, correct it and have it deleted. Because your CV is stored only on your device, you control it completely: you can edit or delete it in the builder at any time. For information held by Google, see Google's privacy policy.
If you have a concern, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site works, we will update this page and the date at the top.
